When it comes to the cleaning of a property, outside windows tend to be the most overlooked. What homeowners and business owners fail to realize is the overall impact windows have on the space's appearance. This impact applies to the inside as well as the outside of the property.

When your windows are clean, it allows the sunlight to flow through freely. And the more sunlight that shines through, the better the atmosphere will be.

As you very well know, washing outside windows is not easy. Especially during the cold winter months. That’s why we recommend you do all exterior window cleaning during Spring or Fall. During this time, the temperatures aren’t too hot or too cold.

In general, it is best to wash your windows either early in the morning or when there is an overcast. Never attempt to clean when the window is in direct sunlight. Doing so will cause the cleaning solution to dry up and evaporate before you can wipe it off. The result will be ugly streaks all over the window.

No matter when you choose to wash your windows, make it a point to do it at least once a year.

How To Properly Wash Your Outside Windows After Winter

After winter has passed, the sun will start to shine, and the temperatures will begin to warm up. This anables the perfect time to get outside and wash your windows.

Now before you run outside and start spraying down your windows, there are a few things you need to do first.

Most importantly, you need to make sure you have the proper cleaning tools on hand. You will need a squeegee, a scrubber, a lint-free rag, a cleaning solution, and possibly a ladder.

Once you have gathered the needed cleaning tools, you can begin cleaning the windows. Start by wiping away as much dirt and grime as you can. If there is any loose paint on the window, you will need to take the proper steps to remove it.

When you officially start cleaning the windows, make sure you go from top to bottom. This will prevent water and cleaner from dripping down and staining the glass as it dries.

After you have cleaned the glass, take a few minutes to wipe down the frame around the window. This is significant in the overall look and feel of the window.

As far as cleaning solution goes, you can make your own using water, vinegar, and dish soap. If you really don't want to make your own, you can go to your local home improvement store and purchase a premade solution.

If you notice a few stubborn stains on the windows, it's best to let them soak in the clean solution for a few minutes. Afterwards, you should be able to wipe them away quickly.

If that doesn’t work, you may need to invest in a commercial cleaner such as CLR. It's designed to get rid of mineral deposits, lime, rust, and calcium.
